Young talent on show at creative exhibition
Margaret River High School students are busy applying the final touches to their artwork and craft projects in preparation for the annual ‘Creating Identity’ exhibition.
This year marks three decades of celebrating the creative talent of youth in our region.
This exhibition, opening on November 6 at Nala Bardip Mia (Margaret River HEART), showcases an impressive array of student creations, including ceramics, woodwork, metalwork, jewellery, and photography.
The event was previously held at several locations, including Jah Roc Gallery and the old hospital site, before settling in its current home at Nala Bardip Mia.
Technologies teacher Josh Hardy said the exhibition unites the school and the broader community.
“The opening night features live music, connecting students, teachers, parents, and community members in a relaxed manner. It’s a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the diverse creative works of students in a social setting,” he said.
A highlight of the opening night on Friday, November 8, is the unveiling of the Agricultural Studies student-produced wine.
The community will also enjoy a taste of the Food Studies students’ delicious culinary skills through the evening’s catering.
“This exhibition showcases the best work from our students across multiple creative subjects,” Mr Hardy said.
“The community appreciation and exposure these young artists receive can be truly valuable for their future paths.
“The money will be given directly to the creators, supporting their creative journeys after graduation.”
The free exhibition runs from November 6 to 21, Monday through Friday, from 10am to 4pm, with the official launch event on Friday, November 8, from 6pm to 7pm.
