Time for young talent to step up for X-Factor comp
Entries are open for Dunsborough’s annual X Factor talent competition, held during the March Long Weekend as part of the Dunsborough Arts Festival.
The popular competition is for 7 to 18 year olds who live in the Dunsborough, Eagle Bay or Yallingup regions.
Organiser Jacquie Happ said anyone who could sing, play an instrument, dance or recite could take part.
“We are also interested in any unusual acts, such as whip cracking – a entry we had at a past X factor,” Mrs Happ said.
“We accept solo, duo and group acts, with all acts limited to 3 minutes X Factor has led to some good career developments for past competitors.
“Talented youth have the opportunity to perform on the big stage, with professional sound technicians. The audience provides a safe environment for young people to try new ideas, and give it a try.
“Past competitors have gone onto study at the WA Academy of Performing Arts and many are now achieving successful careers in the music industry,” she said.
Local vocal coach Sussane Siegrist from Soundwaves Singing Studio said the X Factor experience had been invaluable for her students who have performed over the years.
“Dunsborough’s family friendly and supportive community vibe has made this an inviting place to experience positive stage exposure,” she said.
Mrs Happ said entry cost just $10, with first prize this year at $150, second prize $100 and third prize $50.
