Entries for Busselton Jetty Swim’s new-look Team Swim are now open after a record-breaking number of ballot registrations for their signature 3.6km Solo Swim around Busselton’s iconic Jetty.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025, Busselton Jetty Swim has evolved into Western Australia’s most beloved open water swim, attracting participants of all ages and abilities from across the globe over its 2 day event.
While the inaugural Jetty Swim had just 82 swimmers, the recent 8- day ballot period saw over 5,600 entries, marking a 23 percent increase from the previous year.
In response to growing demand and to accommodate more participants across all categories, organisers recently announced the two- and four- person team events would move to Saturday with a brand new course.
Each team swimmer will now start and finish on the beach. They will swim out to the Jetty elbow, under the Jetty, then back to shore to tag their teammate to complete a combined distance of 3.6km.
Teams Coordinator Emma Brentnall-Sarchet said the new team course opened up the number of team entries that could be offered.
“Every year we are overwhelmed by the demand for our event, so we are always looking for ways to evolve,” she said. “Previously we had to limit the number of team entries that could be offered because safety protocols associated with the existing change overs at the Jetty landings.

Our new course and new day means more people will have a chance to swim, plus team swimmers will be able run through the finish line together.”
In addition to the Team Swim, general entries for Simon’s 500m Shortcut and the Kids Swim are also open.
“Simon’s 500m Shortcut is perfect for anyone looking to get involved or wanting to swim with family and friends, while our Kids Swim is a 220m swim around the Busselton swimming jetty for 8 to 12 year olds,” said Emma.
“There is a distance for everyone at Busselton Jetty Swim; it’s everybody’s swim.”
The 30th Busselton Jetty Swim will take place on the February 8 and 9. General entries are open until 21 January unless sold out sooner.
