Thrills and spills on speedway track

Locals turned out in droves on Saturday to mark Round Two of the Trade Hire Augusta Margaret River Speedway.

It was a night of wheel-to-wheel racing action, with plenty of thrills and spills as well as some top racing, with fans packing the speedway from the early afternoon.

The event was a special one for the South West racing community, marking the annual Heidi Robinson Memorial, in honour of the young speedway fan who lost her battle against a brain tumour in 2017 at just 9 years old.

There were plenty of spectators and participants decked out in pink, Heidi-branded merchandise thanks to local business Southern Workwear. It was also an emotional night for friends, family and fans of Busselton racing identity Kevin Bell, with the inaugural Kevin Bell Memorial race held in honour of the South West speedway icon, who passed in May this year.

Organisers extended their thanks to the hardworking team of volunteers, and spectators for soaking up the action.

“We can’t wait to see you all back here for our next meeting for the V8 Dirt Modifieds WA State Title, which also doubles as our annual Production Sedan Ray Finlan Memorial and Junior Sedans Minchin Cup on December 14.”
