This Saturday, 31 May, beloved local café The Good Egg will be baking with purpose-transforming tarts, muffins, cookies, donuts and more into something much bigger than sweet treats: hope for those impacted by brain cancer.

The event is part of the national Baking for Brain Cancer initiative, a heartfelt fundraiser supporting Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer-a charity funding vital research to find a cure for one of Australia’s most deadly and underfunded diseases.

For café owner Deb Hallyburton, the cause couldn’t be more personal.

“In 2016, I lost my incredible husband to a rare form of brain cancer,” Deb shared.

“The grief never really leaves you, but it also gave me a fire to create something meaningful in his honour.

“That’s why I started The Good Egg. This café was born from love and loss-and being part of Baking for Brain Cancer just made total sense.

“In addition to committing 5 percent of my profits to brain cancer research year-round, this is my way of giving even more back, with flour, sugar, and soul.”

On Saturday, 100 percent of the proceeds from every special baked item sold at The Good Egg will go directly to Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, which has already raised millions for brain cancer research and support services.

Everyone is encouraged to pop by The Good Egg on Saturday 31 May from 7am to 4pm or until sold out, to indulge in some lovingly baked goods, and help fund the fight for a cure.
