2025 is turning out to be the year of the ‘facelift’ for the Cowaramup Tennis Club, with new light towers, new court nets, and later this year a whole court resurface.

Thanks to the generosity of major sponsor, Ray White Stocker Preston, the club installed four new nets this month, just in time for the ladies and mens singles championships.

In addition to Ray White’s sponsorship, Sportspower Margaret River also gave the club a generous discount on the net purchase.

“For small clubs like ours, community, volunteer, and corporate assistance is so important,” said club president, Anita Donaldson.

“The reward for members is great facilities and an improved tennis experience.

“Our membership has increased substantially during the year, and I’m sure that has so much to do with the investment in the club, and creating a vibrant atmosphere for social and competitive games.

“One of our members playing in the mens singles said the courts look ‘fresh’, and I think that’s a great description and sums it up,” she said.

Earlier in the season, the Club installed new light towers to improve night tennis playing conditions, which have been very well received.

The court resurfacing is expected to take place in late spring.

Again, the Club has received generous financial donations from the community to assist in the expense of resurfacing.

“Resurfacing our four courts is a major expense,'” Anita said.

“We are well on the way toward meeting that cost thanks to the Lions Club of Cowaramup which has donated $10,000, and Cowaramup Hall and Reserves Association, which has promised $20,000.

“We won’t recognise our bright shiny look next tennis season, but it will be great for the Club and the town.

“Our tennis courts occupy such a central location, they’re almost iconic in the townsite with the bright blue surface.

“This investment in our facility reflects positively on Cowaramup as a whole, and is great to see.”
