There was some solid surfing on show at the 40th anniversary Yall Mal Classic over the weekend (Jack Medland pictured).

From beautiful glassy conditions on Saturday to howling onshore winds and rain on Sunday, the fortieth anniversary of the Yallingup Malibu Classic had it all.

Some amazing surfing went down over the weekend, with the more versatile surfers excelling on both days.

Anthony Spencer was the standout surfer, winning both the Open Men’s and Old Mal divisions. Anthony also won the Best Noseride and Best Wave trophies.

Making a competitive comeback, Savannah Childs surfed smoothly to win the Open Women’s division from Jade Foster, who really excelled on both days.

In the hotly contested Juniors, Kai Flynn took it out from Qynn Horwood.

Other division winners included Belinda Le Grice (Over 50 Women), Shae Sheridan (Over 40 Women), John Hadlow (Over 70 Men), Chris Fulston (Over 65 Men), Dave Sheen (Over 60 Men), Adam Lane (Over 55 Men), Paul Burke (Over 50 Men), Scott Trew (Over 40 Men), and Paul Thompson (Over 40 Old Mal).

The Bow Tie and Boardies Ball at Palmers Winery on Saturday night was a hoot, with many daggy and dashing outfits on display.

The event was hosted by the Indian Ocean Longboard Club.

Club president Ray Holden thanked the committee who had been working on the event for the last six months.

Ray also thanked the supporters, including major sponsors City of Busselton, Holden Accountants, McCabes Lawyers, Aravina Estate, Westside Commercial Interiors, Salt Merchant, Moonshine Surfboards and many more.
