The first week of the new year saw the inaugural Cafe Del Mar presented by Gracie’s General take place on January 5, the first in a summer series happening on Fridays throughout January and February from 5pm to 8pm.

The Cafe Del Mar concept is inspired by the iconic Ibiza bar, famous for its sunsets and chilled out lounge music.

The Gracie’s General storefront was transformed into a village fair with food vans, ice cream trucks and market stalls including vintage clothes, vinyl records and local art.

All proceeds raised from the market stall holders and food vendors will be donated to the Gracetown Fire Brigade.

Gracetown musicians Darryl Mack and Fred performed on keyboards and guitar as the sun set over the ocean, while DJ Saramony spun some tunes into the evening.

The next Cafe Del Mar is scheduled for January 12. Special guests from the ‘Bay Blues Project’ will be present to outline their research on the blue pygmy whales and launch their calendar.

Gracie’s General owners Dennis and Sandy Bullied said they were thrilled by the positive response of the local community for the event.

“The support for Gracie’s General has been overwhelming. We have a great team always looking for innovative ways to create more offerings for our community and Cafe Del Mar aligns with those values perfectly.”
