10 year old Aidan Fisher and 9 year old Phoebe Parkin represented the region at the 2025 Aqua Technics WA Junior Championships in Perth.

Busselton Swimming Club’s 10-year-old Aidan Fisher was a standout at the 2025 Aqua Technics WA Junior Championships in Perth dominating his age group with 12 State medals.

He was one of nine swimmers from Busselton Swimming Club who qualified to compete against 550 swimmers from 54 Clubs across the State.

Aidan Fisher had a remarkable three days, racing in 12 events.

He returned home with 7 gold, 4 silver and one bronze medal, including 9 club records.

It was an incredible result for the young athlete.

Busselton’s Head Coach Andrew Sexton said it was Aidan’s determination during his longer events including the 200 individual medley, 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle that stood out, while also winning the 50m freestyle and backstroke sprint events.

“For a 10-year-old swimmer to dominate the longer races by up to 8s, and to be willing to have a go at these distances at his age makes his future very bright, and I look forward to him continuing his development over the next few years as he is allowed to swim longer distances like the 400m free,” Sexton said.

“It is also wonderful for a young swimmer to reap the rewards he has earned during his efforts at training.”

Joining Aidan on the podium was 9-year-old Phoebe Parkin, who while ill, managed to climb to silver medal position in the 50m butterfly after returning from the doctor, as well as having multiple fourth place results in her other races, and two club records while also earning PB’s in all her 5 races.

Ivy Hoang (11) had two 5th place events in her favoured breaststroke events as well as breaking the 50m club record.

Leo Todd (10) also had 3 PB’s in his 3 events in his first ever State Championships.

Other PB’s were achieved by Alexia Russo (11), Lily Morelli, Jessica Burn and Kaleb McPherson (all 12).

“Swimming is a sport that requires lots of time and discipline from our young swimmers and I look forward to continue helping them achieve their personal goals as the winter season starts in May, and I hope to see many more medals at our next Junior States in September,” Sexton said.
