Student scores NAIDOC win
Cowaramup Primary School Year 4 student Jett Roberts has received special recognition, awarded the NAIDOC medal of Excellence last week.
The schools initiative competition saw children in primary schools across the country enter colouring and poetry, while high school students took part in creative design and essay writing contests.
The competitions are based around the yearly themes for NAIDOC Week, and aim to provide children with a greater understanding of the importance of friendship and cultural diversity.
Cowaramup teacher Leesa Mathers said Jett was awarded the medal as one of 25 students across WA to receive the award. “His poem was heartfelt, cultural and an honest representation of this year’s focus on ‘My, Voice, Our Culture’,” she said.
