Sport and inclusion expert takes on role

The Citys new Sport4All Inclusion Coach, Gemma Harrison will oversee the successful delivery of the Sport4All Program, working with local schools, sports clubs and the community.
The City of Busselton’s new Sports Inclusion Coach says she is looking forward to driving greater inclusivity in local sport and promoting accessible and inclusive sporting opportunities across the community.
Gemma Harrison was appointed to the role after the City partnered with Sport4All in 2024, in a jointly funded three year agreement to ensure everyone can enjoy the benefits of sport.
The award-winning national program was brought to life through a collaboration between the Australian Government, the Australian Sports Commission and the former Australian of the year, Dylan Alcott AO’s consultancy, Get Skilled Access.
“This role is an incredibly powerful opportunity that combines my two greatest professional passions – sport and inclusion,” Gemma said.
“Collaboratively we can make a real difference by removing barriers and building a welcoming, inclusive environment for all.”
Boasting a distinguished career in national and state-level sport development, including time at the Australian Sports Commission and the WA Football Commission, Gemma’s background as a registered teacher and work in the disability sector underscores her passion for inclusive learning environments.
She is also a proud beach-lover, surfer, jet skier and hockey player, often spotted enjoying life with her partner, two children and two spirited dachshunds.
“We’re truly excited to have Gemma onboard,” Mayor Phill Cronin said.
“Through the Sport4All initiative, Gemma will lead efforts to provide resources, guidance and training that embraces diversity and creates opportunities for people with disability to participate and thrive.”
The City said it would host an Inclusion Forum later this year, in collaboration with Sport4All, and local and state organisations.
