RugbyWA is set to host the inaugural South West Summer 7s on Saturday November 30, on the Lower Western Oval at Gloucester Park in Margaret River.

The event is RugbyWA’s first Senior Rugby 7s competition for 2024, and the third competition run as part of the WA 7s Series.

The day will welcome players from across WA, including RugbyWA affiliate-clubs Rockingham, Nedlands, UWA, Wanneroo, Wests Scarborough, Cottesloe, Southern Lions, Curtin University, Bunbury Barbarians and Margaret River Gropers.

The winning teams from the Open Men’s and Open Women’s competitions will have the opportunity to take to the field at the HSBC SVNS Perth on Friday, January 24.

The Southern Lions All Abilities rugby teams will also be taking to the field in two exhibition matches.

The first All Abilities rugby team in Australia, the Southern Lions boasts a full-size playing squad, comprised of community members with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.

Kickoff is set for 10:30am, with the Open Men’s final match (the last match of the day) scheduled for 7pm.

Food and beverages will be available on site, with the Margaret River Gropers Junior Rugby Club running a sausage sizzle, as well as the Beans Plus coffee van and Sons of Naples pizza.

Players will be wearing orange ribbons and face paint in recognition of the 16 Days in WA anti-violence campaign.
