South West students land in Cowaramup for spelling bee

South West students took part in the annual South West Spelling Bee at Cowaramup PS, with the top three kids receiving Margaret River Office National vouchers.

Students from around the region headed to Cowaramup Primary School last week to take part in the 2024 South West Spelling Bee.

The annual event saw students from Cowaramup PS, Dunsborough PS, Augusta PS, Boyanup PS, Busselton PS, West Busselton PS, Dardanup PS, Geographe PS, Georgina Molloy Anglican School, Hope Anglican School, Kingston PS, Rapids Landing PS and St. Mary MacKillop College represent their schools.

“It was great to see the positive support form Cowaramup Year 4-6 students, staff, families and distinguished guests,” Cowaramup PS teacher Leesa Mathers said.

“It was a nail-biting event and everyone in the room was feeling the pressure. The final three students were really amazing with lots of challenging words.”
