Sisters uncover rare feathers on library visits
Our local libraries have been buzzing with anticipation as young readers embark on a fun guest for special feather bookmarks.
It’s all part of the Scribblers Golden Feather Hunt, an engaging event that has inspired families across the region.
Recently, Augusta Library was the scene of some thrilling feathery discoveries.
Sisters Edie and Emily found themselves at the centre of the fun when they uncovered unique feathers during their library visit.
Edie was thrilled to find a Silver Feather tucked inside a book by visiting author Kylie Howarth. With only 20 of these shimmering feathers hidden statewide, Edie’s find is of the rare kind indeed.
Emily discovered a limited-edition Fuchsia Feather, adding to the sister’s exciting collection.
Margaret River Library also joined in the bounty, with young feather hunter enthusiast Oakley finding another Fuchsia Feather.
Meanwhile, Frankie was delightfully grinning after winning a Feathered Friday prize, thanks to her beautifully coloured feather shared on the Scribblers Festival Facebook page.
The Scribblers Golden Feather Hunt, playing hide and seek in over 170 libraries, invites young reading adventures to explore the local library collections, hoping to find one or more of the thousands of feather-shaped bookmarks concealed among children’s and young adult books.
Alongside the coveted Silver and Fuchsia Feathers, special golden and colour-in-white feathers are waiting to be discovered, offering chances to win fabulous prizes from the Scribblers Festival.
This unique event is not just about young readers combing shelves hoping to find lucky feathers; it carries the inspiration of imagination and the love for reading on its wings.
If you happen to find one of these hidden feathers, be sure to notify your librarian and follow the instructions on the back, as you may be rewarded with more than a pretty cool find… (as there are prizes to be won!)
With each feather found, a book has been opened, and a new world has been discovered.
