Show judges ready to award Exhibition Hall ribbons

Organisers of the Margaret River Agricultural Show have announced the appointment of Exhibition Hall judges ahead of the annual Show, happening at Gloucester Park and the Margaret River Recreation Centre on Saturday October 19.
With entries pouring in from locals keen to show off the region’s best arts, crafts, produce and creative endeavours, this year’s show judges are gearing up to award ribbons across a variety of categories.
Sam Ford, the new name behind Lazarus Horticulture along with partner Emily, will be judging the community’s best Plant entries, while horticulture lecturer and MRPS Kitchen Garden coordinator Terri Sharpe will be casting her eye over the Vegetable submissions.
Artworks will be judged by local artist and teacher Fi Wilkie, and master chef and pâtissier Romain Lassiaille will share his expertise as this year’s Cooking judge.
Helen Barling, experienced judge of yarns, fabrics and crafts returns as Craft and Textiles judge, preserves and pickling extraordinaire from Paddock 2 Produce, Jenine O’Brien, is Jams and Pickles judge, and regenerative farmer, cook and co-founder of One Table Farm, Cree Monaghan will oversee Bread and Produce entries.
Photography entries will be judged by Peter Durey and Hank Durlik, and the Flowers category will be judged by Bark & Blooms owner, Tracey Abbs.
Anne Morgan-Monzato from Cowaramup’s The Quilted Cow, along with Kerry Watson will once again take charge of the the Quilting category, with support from the Quilting Guild in Perth.
Paul O’Reilly, respected lead of Archterra Architects, has reprised his role as Lego judge, and Ian Thwaites, designer, maker and teacher at Ian Thwaites Woodwork will don the Woodworking judge’s cap for the Show.
A show spokesperson encouraged locals to submit their best works and results from their gardens, kitchens, workshops and studios.

Young locals are also being called to participate in the annual Pet Show, one of the most popular events at the Show.
Sponsored by Margaret River Produce & Pet, the competition allows young exhibitors to showcase their beloved pets.
“Whether it’s a dog, cat, rabbit, or something more exotic, this is an opportunity for kids to share their love for animals and compete for exciting prizes.”
Throughout Show day, Sheep Dog Demonstrations will also be offered thanks to Simon Leaning of Marionvale Working Dogs.
Fresh from multiple wins at the Perth Royal Show, Simon will display the incredible skills of his working dogs.
“The teamwork and agility is a must-see for all ages and is an agricultural highlight of the show.”
Tickets are available now for the one-day celebration, which showcases some of the region’s best entertainment, community spirit, creative endeavours and agricultural heritage.
