Search for missing sailor bound for Busselton

Police are calling for help to locate a man who was last seen on December 29 and who failed to reach his intended destination of Busselton.

Concerns are held for the welfare of 77 year old Maurice Saunderson, after he left Emu Point near Albany on December 29.

It is understood Mr Saunderson intended to travel to Busselton in his 9.1 metre yacht called ‘SPEAR’.

Reports were received on January 10 that Mr Saunderson had not arrived in Busselton and has not been seen or heard from since.

Police say this is out of character, and urged the public to report any possible sightings of the man or his yacht.

Mr Saunderson is described as being approximately 185cm tall, of medium build, with grey hair, a grey beard and blue eyes.

Anyone with any information in relation to the whereabouts of Mr Saunderson is urged to contact police immediately on 131 444.
