Red hats on for CinefestOZ film festival

CinefestOZ 2024 is on the look-out for this year’s movie crew volunteers to join the fun and be a part of Australia’s friendliest film festival, held in Augusta, Bunbury, Busselton and Margaret River from 31 August to 8 September.

This year the festival has expanded over two weekends, which means more film screenings and events to enjoy, and also more opportunities for local volunteers to be part of one of Australia’s premium film festivals, attracting filmmakers from across Australia and internationally to celebrate Australian stories.

CinefestOZ CEO Cassandra Jordan said the volunteer movie crew – recognised by their striking red berets – were integral to the festival – helping to deliver more than 200 screenings and events held over nine days.

“Each year more than 300 amazing locals of all ages give their time to help us deliver Australia’s largest destination film festival, performing important roles to ensure the CinefestOZ experience is an exceptional one,” she said.

“As a not-for-profit organisation we are extremely thankful for the contribution of our volunteers, as well as the backing from Rio Tinto as sponsors of our Movie Crew.”

Rio Tinto’s Community Relations Specialist, Meredith Dixon said the company was proud to back the festival.

“CinefestOZ is a fantastic event that entertains and inspires locals and visitors and, as Rio Tinto is proud to again support the hundreds of volunteers from across the South West community who contribute to the Festival’s success each year,” she said.

Locals interested in joining the movie crew can choose from a variety of roles including film hosts, event crew, bar attendants, ushers, hospitality crew, festival promoters, and VIP hosts and drivers.

Movie crew perks also include getting to enjoy a film screening, a thank you event and an opportunity to win prizes.
