Qantas announces Busselton-Perth flights
Travel between Perth and the South West is set to become easier for tourists and residents following this morning’s announcement that Qantas will begin flights between the cities in June.
QantasLink chief executive Rachel Yangoyan said the airline would offer 31,000 seats between the destinations each year.
“We’re committed to supporting regional tourism and are thrilled to be growing our regional network by launching a new route into the spectacular Margaret River,” Ms Yangoyan said.
“Famous for its wineries, crystal clear waters and whale watching, these new flights are set to make the region even more accessible for Australians and international holidaymakers travelling through Perth.”
The announcement comes after the establishment of direct Jetstar flights into Busselton from Sydney and Melbourne, with potential for visitors from Brisbane, Adelaide and other parts of Australia on the horizon.
“The new flights will help to provide easier access to the region for international and interstate visitors who are connecting to the region via Perth. Travellers arriving from outside Western Australia currently make up only a small proportion of our total visitation, but are an incredibly important part of the region’s visitor mix due to their desire to travel outside of peak periods and stay longer.”
Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA) chief executive, Sharna Kearney, welcomed the news.
“MRBTA is looking forward to supporting the success of the route through our visitor servicing and marketing channels, and through the provision of ground handling services at the airport, which is delivered by our South West Aviation Services team,” she said.
Operating three times a week, the flights are set to take off from June 27, 2025 and will be operated by the 100-seat QantasLink Fokker F100 aircraft.
Qantas has today launched sale fares starting from $149 until 11:59pm AEDT, March 2.
