Prince Street crowds pause for Duchess | Photos
Saturday saw more than 200 people line Prince Street to welcome Sarah, Duchess of York on her Australian tour.
Stopping in at Dymocks Busselton, the crowd cheered and clapped as she exited her car.
Store owner Beth Herbert said the royal visitor immediately approached fans, paying special attention to young children and the elderly.
“The Duchess spent over three hours in store, signing books and chatting,” Beth said. “She made everyone feel special and even people who had lined up for hours to meet her left with smiles on their faces.”
The thrilled local business owner said Sarah was “extremely gracious and charming”.
“The Duchess is passionate about promoting a love of reading in children and the magical power of books to teach them about empathy, kindness, compassion, things that are so very close to my own heart.”
Despite exhaustion and a long trip back to Perth ahead, the Duchess insisted on a stop at Busselton Jetty to take in the famed sunset over the iconic Geographe Bay.
