A record number of entries were received in the 2023 Port Geographe Canals Christmas Lights Competition, including a record number of first time entries.

The canals were aglow over the four week display window, with residents embracing the competition and adding their lights and decorations hoping to secure one of the cash prizes.

Mitch Hector from the Aigle Royal Group said the rewards – $5,000 for first prize, $2,000 for the best new entrant and eight $1,000 participation prizes – spurred on even more creativity.

“These enticing rewards fuelled the enthusiasm of participants, encouraging them to go above and beyond in creating enchanting displays that captivated both residents and visitors alike.

“The generous support from co-sponsors of the Port Geographe Christmas Lights Cruise played a significant role in enhancing the community experience.”

Co-sponsors included Newport Geographe, Altair Estate, WIN Network, the Busselton Dunsborough Mail, the City of Busselton, Port Geographe Marina, and Dale Alcock Homes Southwest.

“Adding to the festivities, Altair Estate winery, one of the newest co-sponsors, further extended their support by offering additional Christmas lights cruises. The community was invited to come together, celebrate the season, and experience the magic of the Port Geographe canals that transformed into a mesmerising display of lights.”

Mr Hector said plans were in place for an even bigger and better spectacle in 2024.
