The Busselton foreshore was the site of the largest field to ever race in the annual Busselton 6 Hour Pedal Prix competition.
Held over the weekend, the race welcomed teams of all ages, from Perth, South Australia and regional WA with the aim of completing more laps than their competitors around the track over the 6 hour event.
UniSA Australian HPV Super Series CEO Marcus Lacey said the big contingent of teams represented a 38 percent increase over last year.
“We love coming to Busselton,” Mr Lacey said.
“The location is ideal, there’s a great mix of teams, and the community is always supportive. Coming back to Busselton is a real highlight of the calendar.”
An extended circuit gave competitors some technical challenges, while teams supported their racers from special pit spaces on the foreshore.
Trump Trikes Factory Racing came out on top with their Trump Trikes making 185 laps, while Gtrikes was in second with 178 laps.
Trump Trikes also claimed third spot with 177 laps.
WA Chairperson Graham Johnson said Geographe Bay was the ideal venue for the event.
“We are thrilled to be part of the Busselton event as it is the climax to our three round Series here in Western Australia,” he said.
Mr Lacey said the City of Busselton had been “instrumental” in making the annual event happen, with Mayor Phill Cronin on hand on Sunday morning to start the racing.
“We extend our gratitude and thanks for their support,” Mr Lacey said.
