The WA State government revealed it had selected Housing Choices Western Australia Limited as the preferred builder and operator of a new 30-dwelling community housing development in Busselton.
Proposed for Brown Street, the four storey development is expected to offer a mix of 16 social and 14 affordable housing options on a 2,034 square metre development site.
Housing Minister John Carey said the government was doing everything it could to boost housing supply across WA.
“This well-located site in Busselton will offer and create an accessible and affordable housing project for one of the South West’s busiest communities and will be constructed and operated by preferred proponent Housing Choices WA,” he said.
Housing Choices WA is a community housing provider managing social community neighbourhoods for 3,000 Western Australians in the Perth, Peel, and South West regions.
The company will partner with the State Government to oversee the development, and upon completion will operate the complex alongside the Department of Communities.
Mr Carey said the development would be built to silver Liveable Homes standards with a minimum 6-star NatHERS (Nationwide Housing Energy Rating Scheme) score.
A development application is expected to be lodged by Housing Choices WA by the end of November.
