The Margaret River Tennis Club (MRTC) recently wrapped up its Tuesday night season with a thrilling Rosily Mixed Pennant Final, where the Bubblegum Baseliners edged out the Taffy Topspinners in a nail-biting contest.

The match was decided by just four games-30 games to 26, with rubbers tied at 3-all.

Congratulations to the Bubblegum Baseliners: Richard, Galatee, Pascale, and Michael, for their outstanding performance, all played under the newly installed energy-efficient LED lights, which added an exciting atmosphere to the final.

The club is now hosting weekly Fast Fours sessions every Thursday evening under the brand-new and brighter lights.

These sessions will continue throughout Autumn, weather permitting, and are open to ALL-members and non-members, women and men, across all playing levels.

Event coordinators will rank players to ensure balanced matchups for a fun and competitive experience on court.

A club spokesperson said the new lights had “greatly improved court visibility, reduced our energy costs by half, and helped secure the long-term future of night tennis in Margaret River”.

The club noted support from the State Government, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, and Tennis Australia’s National Court Rebate Scheme as well as Tennis West in the completion of the project.
