New home for new-look Capes Athletic Club

The Capes Athletic Club has a new home at the Cowaramup Oval, and will host two demo days for local kids next month.
With a new name and a new place to call home, the Capes Athletic Club is going from strength to strength.
Formerly the Margaret River Little Athletics Club, the group has moved to Cowaramup Oval and boasts a new committee to lead it into the future.
“The club is looking forward to welcoming past and new members and building fresh connections within the community including the Cowaramup Farmers Markets which also operate on a Sunday morning adjacent to the oval,” club spokesperson Fran Newland explained.
“Children born between 2008 to 2019 are able to join and we accept Kidsport vouchers.”
Fran said events on offer – dependent on age – included high jump, discus, shot put, javelin and long jump.
“Capes Athletics Club hopes to encourage children from all areas of the South West to get fit and have some fun this summer,” she said.
The Club will host two demo days, where kids can come along to try out some events and learn more about the club.
The demo days will be held on Tuesday October 15 from 4pm to 5pm, and Sunday October 20 from 8:30 to 11:30am.
The 2024/25 season starts with training on Tuesday October 29, with meets now being held on Sunday mornings.
