The Margaret River Concert Band has announced the appointment of a new Musical Director.
Geoff Ogden steps into the position made vacant by previous director, Karen Neidermeyer.
“Geoff has many years experience as a brass teacher and band leader, presently leading four bands,” Deb Perry from the band said.
“For the past few years he has often joined us for our performances, playing trombone plus assisting the younger players.”
Deb said Geoff had already presented some ideas to improve the band’s general format for the future.
“These will present us with some new and varied challenges,” she said.
“We will all miss Karen Neidermeyer’s wonderful leadership and encouragement, a big thanks to her.

Deb said while Karen would be moving from the musical director position, she would remain as a playing member of the band.
“We are all looking forward to another successful year developing and improving our music skills and most of all thoroughly enjoying ourselves preparing for our various performances.

“Number one will be The Augusta Playout on Mother’s Day, May 12 at the Augusta Centennial Hall.”
The Concert Band welcomes new members of all abilities, with rehearsals held on Monday evenings from 3:30pm to 9:00pm at the Margaret River SHS auditorium.
“Please contact us if you wish to dust off that instrument you haven’t played for years.
“We are always looking for new players and welcome musicians of all abilities.”
