Margaret River has a new meeting place for older members of the community, with the opening of the Community Centre for Seniors at Margaret River Community Centre.

Staying in Place coordinator Ashleigh Brennan was on hand with the Community Centre’s Sally Hays to welcome locals for an informal get-together over coffee and cake.

“During the first year of the Staying in Place program, we have heard repeatedly that there is a need for a central place for seniors to come together and also to learn about services available to them as they age,” Mrs Hays said.

“In response to community interest we have opened the Community Centre for Seniors to provide a regular place to gather.

“Volunteers and our Staying in Place team will host the mornings and will coordinate a guest speaker program, but we expect it to evolve in response to what the attendees decide.”

The Community Centre for Seniors will be open Tuesdays from 10am-12pm in the Doctors Surgery (Soupie cottage) at the Old Hospital Heritage Precinct. All are welcome, no need to RSVP.
