Two of the region’s golf clubs have collected multiple accolades at the ADH Club Car WA Golf Industry Awards last Friday.
Margaret River Golf Club collected three awards from the 17 categories handed out on the night, including Regional Golf Facility of the Year.
Margaret River’s General Manager, Andrew MacAuslan, was named PGA WA Management Professional of the Year, while the club’s Ladies Captain, Jackie Dickson took home the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Mr MacAuslan said the club had enjoyed a strong year, adding 151 new members and increasing revenue to allow for significant reinvestment in course improvements and facilities.
“We have worked on breaking down the barriers and stigma when it comes to golf,” he told the Mail this week.
“We want the community to feel like they are always welcome to visit the golf club. We have also worked on growing the game for ladies and juniors.”
He said the success of the club had been wholeheartedly a team effort.
“We have a great active committee who are all working towards making the club a better place for all. Everyone gets their hands dirty when needed.”
Ms Dickson echoed his sentiments, and that she was incredibly honoured to receive the Volunteer of the Year Award.
“This recognition is not just mine – it belongs to the entire team of dedicated volunteers and staff at the Margaret River Golf Club,” she said.
“Our club has gone through significant changes and improvements in the last 12 months and thrives because of the passion and hard work of so many individuals who give their time and energy to make it a welcoming and vibrant place for all.
“This award is a celebration of our collective effort, and I am proud to be part of such a fantastic community.”

Busselton Golf Club was also a big winner on the night, bringing home three awards – Head Professional Grant Williams was named the Hilary Lawler PGA WA Club Professional of the Year for the second consecutive year, while younger colleague Jeremy Crabb was awarded the PGA WA Associate of the Year.
Busselton also took out the Outstanding Game Development Program category for its successful ‘Swing & Sip’ Women’s Beginner Program.
The annual awards were held at Crown Perth and celebrated excellence across all areas of golf throughout the year.
Kalgoorlie Golf Course and Lake Karrinyup Country Club won the respective Regional and Metropolitan Golf Course of the Year categories, while Mandurah Country Club was named as the Metropolitan Golf Facility of the Year.
