The top awards were a cause for celebration, honouring the exceptional efforts of three standout athletes.

His commitment and passion for the sport will hopefully help strengthen the pathway for future athletes.

The Runner-Up Award went to Otis North, a dedicated surfer and the youngest male to compete at the Margaret River Pro, who took home a $1,000 prize. Otis’s committment and continuous improvement in the sport has earned him a well-deserved place among the evening’s honours.

Finn Caruana’s exceptional kayaking achievements earned him the overall prize of $2,000. His passion and skill in his sport make him a true rising star in the Busselton sports scene. He was very appreciative of the prize money, as his sport requires expensive equipment, and attending events and travel for training sessions is costly.

Adding to the night’s inspiration were guest speakers Brooke Kemp, the WAIS swimming coach, and Rachel Norman, the new Executive Officer of SWAS.

They shared their journeys and gave the audience valuable insights into elite sports.

Their speeches offered great advice for both the athletes and parents in the room, encouraging everyone to continue striving for excellence.

Ingrid Moss, the event organiser, shared her delight at the night’s success, saying, “The event was a successful night celebrating Busselton’s impressive and talented athletes.”

“The 12 athletes shared great insight into their sporting journey and inspired many audience members.”

She also expressed gratitude to Busselton Freight Services and Allan and Denis Price for their generosity and support in making the program possible.

It was a memorable evening, not just for the award recipients but for all attendees who witnessed the recognition of young talent that will continue to shine in the years to come.
