Local named 2024 South West Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations to the 2024 South West Volunteer of the Year, Aoife Cosby of the Margaret River Netball Association.

The Award was presented at the South West Peel Association Championships which were held at the Busselton Netball Association on July 27 and 28.

Margaret River was represented by three teams in the 13 Under, 14 Under and 16 Under divisions.

Aoife was recognised for her countless hours of dedication to both the Margaret River Netball Association, and the Margaret River Hawks Football and Netball Club.

She has volunteered tirelessly for the Margaret River Netball Association for many years, assisting with scoring, timing, court management, team management and uniform coordination.

In the past year, she has coordinated the 18 and Under division and assisted with the management of the 14 and Under division.

Her responsibilities include forming teams, coordinating training times and sorting uniforms for both her divisions and others.

She is also the Representative Development Coordinator for the Margaret River Netball Association, organising all the representative teams for Margaret River.

This role includes liaising with Netball WA regarding details of trips as well as her own fundraising to help reduce the costs for families.

Aofie herself does not coach or play, but that does not stop her from constantly being a source of help in her Association.

She can always be found down at the netball courts, ready to listen or lend a hand where needed.
