Local club helped by funding grant

The Busselton croquet club are all smiles after receiving a Rio Tinto Community Giving grant, to replace six sets of ageing Dawson croquet balls.

The balls are made of a special plastic and produced in a small Australian factory, which is the only outlet in Australia.

The balls are sold both in Australia and into the 23 countries which play croquet worldwide.

“Busselton has a large number of ageing residents who want to participate in activities for active ageing and croquet is a growing sport that certainly supports this philosophy,” the club’s Barbara Dunnet said.

“Busselton Croquet is a rapidly growing sporting club that supports active ageing and welcomes new members who feel they would like to participate in a sport that requires skill and strategy and social enjoyment.
