Margaret River’s Payet Gallery recently delivered a community fundraising initiative with the heartwarming aim of supporting a range of local community welfare services.

Dubbed ‘My Community’, the fundraising drive pledged to donate 20 percent of all Payet Gallery jewellery sales during a two weeks event last month.

Artists Francoise Payet, Nicholas Payet and Dariya Gratte made the promise to support four Margaret River charities: River Angels, Community Pantry, Soup Kitchen and the Community Centre.

Payet Gallery was established in 2006, offering handcrafted, locally inspired jewellery.

The talented artists have been handcrafting jewellery in Margaret River since 2006, when they moved to the region from Melbourne.

“We are grateful for the work that these organisations do and grateful for their kindness offered to those who need it,” gallery owner Francoise Payet said.

“We wanted to create an opportunity to acknowledge these local community heroes.”

Representatives from the four community organisations were delighted at the news this week that close to $2000 was raised during the initiative.

“It is the generosity of local businesses like Payet Gallery that helps keep us going,” Lydell Huntly, the manager at Margaret River Community Centre said.

“Initiatives like this also serve as a reminder that the need is very real in our community and the kindness and generosity we each offer others always goes a long way.”
