Life memberships for local arts volunteers
A pair of stalwarts of the regional arts community have been recognised for their unwavering support of the industry at the recent Arts Margaret River 2024 Annual General Meeting.
Held on October 23 at Margaret River HEART Nala Bardip Mia, the meeting saw respected residents Lloyd Shepherdson and Diana Heaford inducted as Honorary Life Members of the arts organisation.
“Lloyd has been a constant contributor to Arts Margaret River from the very start – firstly with his mother Dorothy and then with wife Anne,” Arts Margaret River’s Christopher Young said.
“His encouragement and support in many ways has been unwavering.”
Diana Heaford was applauded for her two decades of volunteer service, welcoming guests, performers and artists to events across the region.

She is a familiar face to many, taking part in events such as CinefestOZ, the Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival, and cinema screenings.
“Diana has been volunteering for Arts Margaret River since 2004 and Arts Margaret River celebrated her 20 years of service, parallel to their 50 year celebrations as an organisation.
“With her welcoming smile and cheeky sense of humour, she is an inspiration to younger volunteers, audience members and staff alike.
“Since 2004 she has worked almost 1,700 hours, which is a remarkable achievement for a volunteer.”
Diana said she was thrilled to receive the honour at the meeting.
“I am honoured and thank all those loyal committed Arts Margaret River staff and for letting me feel part of the team,” she said.
