Life memberships for dedicated Cowaramup duo

Two stalwarts of the Cowaramup Tennis Club have been honoured at the club’s recent Annual General Meeting.

Retiring President Bob Oates and Secretary Fran Oates were awarded Life Memberships for their ongoing contributions to the club over many years.

The pair were overwhelmed with the recognition, saying “we were surprised and honoured to receive this award”.

“The Cowaramup Tennis Club is such a great club and we have enjoyed being involved and feel privileged to have had the opportunity to contribute.”

Club treasurer Heather Tennant outlined their countless efforts, which for Bob included included stints as Men’s Captain, representative on Shire committees, and Club President.

As Secretary, Fran was instrumental in setting up online systems, updating the club’s constitution, and recently securing significant funding to upgrade the courts’ lights, with work due to commence in the coming weeks.

“While Bob and Fran have worked tirelessly at busy bees, club events and generally getting things happening around the club, they have, perhaps more significantly, created a culture where everyone is welcome to come down, have a hit and really enjoy themselves,” incoming President Anita Donaldson said.

They continue to hit the ball pretty well too.
