The Labor party has pledged $1.9m towards planning for a new Vasse West Primary School to open in 2028, if it is re-elected.

The Labor party has promised a total of $24 million for new and improved school infrastructure in the South West if re-elected at the upcoming state election.

Labor’s South West schools package includes $1.9m towards planning for a new Vasse West Primary School to open in 2028, while Cowaramup Primary would receive a $12m major upgrade to address ageing facilities.

Four schools in the region would benefit from the first round of an air-conditioning upgrade program, which would retrofit schools that lack effective air-con with reverse-cycle technology.

“The funding for a brand new primary school at Vasse West is incredibly exciting news for local families, who will soon benefit from the modern facilities and additional student capacity,” Vasse candidate Evan Lewis said.

“With the new school set to open in time for the 2028 school year, the families of Vasse’s youngest residents can look forward to dropping them off at the school gate in a few years’ time.”
