Just Home calls for new committee members

An information session at the Margaret River Library on Tuesday October 29 to discuss the role of Just Home in the community, and how locals can help wiht future plans.
Housing advocacy group Just Home is calling for community members who want to be more involved in the local movement for housing justice, to join the group’s committee, with an information session coming up on October 29.
“A strong Committee is vital to lead Just Home’s impactful work in our community,” Just Home Chairperson Naomi Godden said.
“The Committee is a great way to lead local action to end homelessness and be a strong voice for housing justice.
“We encourage community members to contact us if you are interested in joining the Committee or learning more.”
With many in the region continuing to experience homelessness and housing insecurity, Just Home advocates for essential services, emergency accommodation and homes for all.
An information session at the Margaret River Library on Tuesday October 29 will run from 5:30pm to 7pm, with all welcome to attend.
“Just Home is a unique organisation in WA and this is an opportunity for you to learn more and hear about how you can be involved,” Dr Godden said.
This inclusive session will discuss local advocacy for housing justice, Just Home’s two-year community plan, and will explain what it means to be a Just Home Committee member, including commitment and responsibilities.
The group said some skills and experiencing being sought included lived experience of homelessness/housing stress; experience in social services, advocacy and the not-for-profit sector; expertise in media, legal, financial, marketing, fundraising, grants, events and community engagement; and a passion for ending homelessness in the community.
All Just Home Committee positions are open for nomination, including Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee Members.
