Jack's pledge to help WA kids play sport

A Cowaramup Primary School student has gathered an incredible amount of pre-loved sports equipment as part of his mission to support health promotion charity, Fair Game.
Fair Game collects and distributes equipment to provide sporting opportunities to children in remote locations.
Jack McFarlane (9 years old) pitched an idea to Principal Jaime Adair, who enthusiastically supported Jack to organise the fundraiser.
Jack said he was keen to do his bit to help other children “be able to have the shoes and equipment they need to play sport, to increase their health, well being and sense of belonging”.

Every morning for two weeks Jack collected donations from Cowaramup PS students, including bats, balls, pads, gloves, racquets and over 30 pairs of football boots and sneakers.
During a ‘Dress as Your Sporting Hero’ day at school last week, Fair Game CEO, Nicky Bardwell visited to congratulate the school on their efforts, raising $275 in gold coin donations on top of the collected equipment.
Students were amazed to hear their donations will reach remote communities in the WA desert, where children travel over 4 hours to be able to play sport.
Jack said he felt “so encouraged” by the generosity of his community.

“I really love sport and I want to help kids have all the sport equipment they need to be able to play sport like we do in Cowaramup. So they can feel as happy as I do when I play sport with my friends.”
He thanked the school, and the families of the U12 Margaret River Hawks Basketball Development Squad and Cowaramup Junior Football Club for their donations.
