More than 80 yachts set sail on the waters of Geographe Bay for this year’s Race Week, with Olympic champions, America’s Cup winners, and state and international title holders joining local sailors for this exciting event.

Busselton’s ideal racing conditions attracted crews from across the state and around the globe, with moderate breezes and flat water creating perfect seas as competitors raced across the bay.

The three-day mini regatta proved particularly intense, with the Viper and VX One fleet battling for the coveted Race Week Cup.

Graeme Monkhouse on “Good Viperations” claimed victory, closely followed by Alan Smith’s “Protopia” in second place and Murray Howson’s “Atheris” taking third.

Wednesday’s lay day offered sailors a taste of the region’s renowned attractions as crews traded sea legs for wine tours and long lunches at local restaurants.

The competition concluded on Friday with strong breezes testing the sailors across ten divisions in short-course racing.

The rivalry remained fierce until the final day, with most division winners uncertain until the last results were tallied.

“We just love having everyone down south for WA’s premier sailing race,” Regatta Director Scott Olney said.

“This year, we saw a big increase in participation, with some new boats recently arriving into WA making their journey to Geographe Bay.”

“Plans for an even bigger and better event in February 2026 are already on the horizon!”
