Arts Margaret River is set to host an exclusive South West screening of ‘Pink Floyd – Live at Pompeii’ at Nala Bardip Mia – Margaret River HEART.
The groundbreaking 1972 film directed by Adrian Maben has been meticulously restored to deliver stunning image and sound quality, featuring an enhanced mix from Steven Wilson in 5.1 and Dolby Atmos.
“We are especially looking forward to hearing this amazing concert film piped through the state-of-the-art audio system in Nala Bardip Mia,” Christopher Young, Arts Margaret River’s Marketing Manager said.
The original 35mm footage predates the release of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ and documents the early days of Pink Floyd before they became giants of the album charts.
Set in the ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, the immersive film captures an intimate concert without an audience.
Filmed in October 1971, the performance marked the very first live concert to take place at Pompeii, and features ‘Echoes,’ ‘A Saucerful of Secrets,’ and ‘One of These Days.’ Additionally, the film includes rare behind-the-scenes footage of the band beginning work on The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios.
‘Pink Floyd – Live at Pompeii’ will screen from 8pm on Thursday, April 24 at Margaret River HEART. Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult as the bar will be open.
