High honour for dedicated City employee

City of Busselton Parks and Streetscapes Leading Hand, Anthony Marriott has been recognised for his years of service preparing and maintaining local cemeteries and graves.

Mr Marriott was awarded the 2025 Peter Maclean Award, presented to employees of Australasian Cemeteries and Crematoria Association WA (ACCAWA) members who perform above and beyond the call of duty in their roles. It is presented in recognition of Peter Maclean, a past CEO of the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB), and ex president and life member of the Australasian Cemeteries and Crematoria Association.

A City of Busselton spokesperson said the award recognised Mr Marriott’s outstanding contribution and commitment, “with nearly 15 years of dedicated service in the meticulous preparation and maintenance of local cemeteries and graves”.

“Anthony’s humility and selflessness evident in his actions and his drive to improve the industry, with local funeral directors advising that his leadership and contributions have greatly shaped the field and enhanced the way loved ones are honoured and memories are preserved”.
