As the summer of 2024/25 approaches, the Margaret River Hawks Cricket Club (MRHCC) is buzzing with excitement, preparing to welcome both new and returning cricketers for what promises to be another memorable season.

The club provides young players with a positive, supportive environment where they can develop their cricketing skills, build lasting friendships, and enjoy the great sport of cricket.

This season, the club will field teams across all age groups, including the popular Blasters program for younger cricketers, three Stage 1 teams, two Stage 2 teams, two Under 14 teams, and one Under 16 team.

The Hawks boasts an experienced and dedicated coaching team for the 2024/25 season including Al McIlroy, Kris Longmore, and Andy Gale (Stage 1), Joel Lawrance, Lane Williams, and Matt Byrne (Stage 2), Brenton Murphy and Jason Donnachy (U14s) and Shane Joyce (U16s).

“We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful team of coaches this year and we are thrilled to have experienced growth in participation with two additional teams this season,” Shane Joyce, coach of the Under 16 team said.

In addition to the team’s coaches, the club is also calling on parents to lend their support throughout the season with roles such as team manager and assistant coach up for grabs, parents can contribute to their child’s cricketing journey.

Responsibilities will include helping out at training, performing square leg umpiring duties, and assisting in managing team logistics.

“The involvement of parents is crucial to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone,” Joyce said.

“We hope to see all parents volunteer and support the teams, as it truly enhances the sense of community that makes this club special.”

With the season fast approaching, the club has shared key details for the initial training sessions and match days. Training will kick off the week starting Monday, October 7, 2024, at 3:45pm at the MRHCC nets.
