Haunted fun at spooky dance event
Spooky season is upon us, and with Halloween around the corner, what better way to have some fun than to dance the night away in a Haunted House?
The upcoming Capel “Haunted House” Social on Saturday, November 2nd, will have you dancing, doing the time warp, and getting footloose from 6 to 9 p.m. at the community hall.
“Our Capel Social offers a chance to dress up, dance, and connect with others in person – something we all need in this digital age,” said Suzanne Crews from Dance Steps South West, the event’s organiser.
“Come along with friends, or pop in on your own, as you’ll be sure to make new friends by the end of the evening.”
Hit the dance floor to an eclectic mix of tunes from Rock ‘n’ Roll to Waltz, Salsa to Tango-there’s a rhythm for every ghoul and ghost.
Or, as Suzanne encourages, “Feel free to bust out your own disco moves.”
Early birds can catch a free Bachata dance lesson at 5 pm, just after the doors open, to learn new grooves before the main event kicks off.

The Capel Social follows a ‘No Footprint’ policy in true community spirit.
Suzanne explains, “We ask everyone to bring their own refreshments to share and take any items home. It’s our way of ensuring we leave the venue as we found it.”
The Capel Girl Guides will lend a hand with clean-up, receiving donations for their efforts. Part of the social proceeds will go to SAFE Bunbury, turning a fun night out into a chance to support a worthy cause.
The Shire of Capel has thrown its support behind the event, even offering free overnight camping for attendees. Details can be found on the Shire’s website.
“We would love these nights to continue being a success, as it’s about more than just dancing,” Suzanne said.
“They’re about creating a space where people can chat, laugh, and form real connections. That’s what makes them so special.”
