The City of Busselton Council has officially endorsed the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2025-2029 at its meeting on March 12.

It said the new DAIP aligned with the objectives of the City’s Council Plan and provided a “strategic direction and comprehensive framework” to improve access and inclusion across the City’s services, events, buildings and facilities, as well as information, quality of service, feedback and complaints, public consultation and employment.

Mayor Phill Cronin said the DAIP was developed through an extensive community consultation and engagement process, which included an online survey, workshops, pop-up engagements, working with local community groups and the City’s Disability, Access and Inclusion Plan Reference Group.

“It’s encouraging to see this plan shaped by the voices of the community and individuals living with disabilities,” he said.

“Their contribution has been invaluable in developing a plan that reflects the needs and priorities of the community and key stakeholders.

“The DAIP demonstrates the City’s ongoing dedication to fostering a connected, inclusive, accessible and welcoming environment for everyone.”

The City said it would allocate $100,000 in its 2025/26 draft budget and in subsequent annual budgets, to support the implementation of key actions and outcomes identified within the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2025-2029.
