Music will rock, skateboards will roll, and art will come alive at this year’s SAMM Fest-Margaret River’s youth focused Skating, Art, Music and Mental Health Festival.

The free community event will take over the Youth Precinct on Saturday, November 23. From 3pm to 7:30pm, the community can join in an epic, action-packed afternoon of creativity, connection, and fun.

“SAMM Fest is truly one of a kind,” Community Development Trainee Aloha Fritsch said. “A celebration where everyone can find something they love, whether it’s live music, art, or skating. It’s a chance to kick back, connect, and feel part of a vibrant community all coming together.”

Mental health awareness stands at the heart of the festival, with Headspace Margaret River creating a friendly, supportive space for young people to connect and access resources.

“SAMM Fest aims to break down barriers around mental health by creating an inclusive space where young people can feel safe and supported,” Ms Fritsch said. “By blending these fun activities with vital resources, we’re making mental wellness a part of the conversation in our community.”

The afternoon rocks on with homegrown talent as local high school bands take to the stage.

The Everlastings, The Airs, Redshift, and Mixtape will showcase their rock, indie, and pop sounds that have already made waves across Margaret River and Augusta over the past few years.

The Concrete Club brings screen printing magic with their workshops, while young First Nations artist Mariah will create a stunning live, interactive Indigenous mural. Festival-goers can share ideas and watch as Mariah weaves them into the evolving artwork.

Design enthusiasts can keep the artistic vibes flowing by helping Kaiman bring his next wondrous wall mural to life in the Zone Room.

“With live murals, screen printing, and art workshops, SAMM Fest is perfect for anyone who loves to get creative,” Aloha said. “It’s a space for young people to express themselves and feel part of something bigger. By encouraging creative expression through art, music, and skating, we celebrate the incredible diversity and energy our youth bring to the community.”

The highly anticipated Soggy Bones Skate Competition amps up from 6pm to 7pm when skaters hit the park to showcase their skills to the crowds.

Other activities include Margi Pride’s Posca pot painting, roller skating and skateboarding sessions, basketball, and ping pong playoffs. Food options include Mai Tardi Gelato, Lions Hot Donuts, a Roller Derby sausage sizzle, and Dahl Daddy’s on site.

“This year’s SAMM Fest is all about inclusion and fun, bringing young people together in a safe, welcoming space to celebrate mental wellness and community.”
