The 22nd annual Gail Kearney Memorial Golf Day raised a huge $50,150 this year, bringing the total raised to $750,000 for Busselton Hospice Care Inc.

A charity golf day held in support of Busselton Hospice Care Inc. has attracted a record number of teams and raised more than $50,000.

The 22nd annual Gail Kearney Memorial Golf Day was held in late March at the Busselton Golf Club, with registrations reaching capacity six weeks in advance of the event.

What began as a humble golf day organised by a group of friends in 2003 has evolved into one of the biggest annual fundraisers for Busselton Hospice Care.

It is named in memory of co-organiser Mike Kearney’s late wife Gail, and sees a huge demonstration of local support as businesses and individuals dig deep to donate prizes, as well as entering the competition itself.

This year, an impressive $50,150 was raised, bringing the total raised over the event’s history to an enormous $750,000.

Busselton Hospice Care chief executive James Jarvis said the overwhelming support from the community highlighted the importance of the charity event.

“The Gail Kearney Memorial Golf Day continues to be a cornerstone event for Busselton Hospice Care Inc., providing essential support for their compassionate care services.

“The funds raised will directly benefit the hospice’s programs, ensuring that they can continue to offer high-quality care to those in need.”

Mr Jarvis called for supporters to reach out ahead of next year’s golf day, already scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2026.

“Your sponsorship will not only contribute to the success of the event but also make a significant difference in the lives of those receiving care from Busselton Hospice Care Inc.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible array of event supporters, donors, benefactors, and the small organising committee of selfless business identities. Your generosity and enthusiasm make the Gail Kearney Memorial Golf Day a truly special occasion.”
