French flair at school Olympics
Margaret River Independent School (MRIS) students were excited to participate in the French Olympic Games held recently on campus as part of the school’s French language program.
After a moving Opening Ceremony, the children enjoyed a number of sports including javelin and sailing, as well as sampling French foods and applying French flag tattoos.
MRIS Language Teacher, Alicia McIntosh said the event was the culmination of a term’s worth of effort by students to educate themselves about the Olympics while learning French.
“This type of rich task creates a wonderful connection to learning,” she said.
“It was a so nice to see it unfold so authentically and with so much joy and big thank you to all the parents who came out to support the event.”
