Fire alert for Margaret River residents

Brookfield residents are under a Bushfire Watch and Act, after the Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued the notice for the area bound by Mahoney Street, Pimelia Drive and Winton Street in eastern parts of Margaret River on Friday morning.

The uncontained, uncontrolled blaze is moving in a westerly direction and people in the affected area are being warned to watch for embers and spot fires.

Aerial support has been sent to assist ground crews as they battle the bushfire.

At this stage, authorities say the cause of the fire is “unknown/accidental/suspicious or deliberately lit”.

It is safe to leave in a westerly direction on Pimelia Drive towards Bussell Highway.
