Farmers' donation supports Royal Flying Doctors
The Busselton fundraising team for the Royal Flying Doctors Service is celebrating a generous donation from Quindalup-based Molita Grove Grazing owners Chip Yelverton and Liz Devine.
The farmers donated a 705kg liveweight Chargrey steer for auction, with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Western Operations.
“The Nutrien Livestock team helped by generously donating the stockyard pen and waiving all fees for the sale,” Busselton fundraising team president Jacinta Lee said. “With spirited bidding, the steer was knocked down to the buyer, Western Meat Packers, at 400 c/kg, raising an incredible $2,820, which will be sent directly to the RFDS main office in Jandakot.”
Ms Lee expressed her gratitude to all involved. “The support we’ve received from our farming community and industry partners has been wonderful,” she said.
“From Chip and Liz’s thoughtful donation to the practical support of Nutrien agent Jock Embry, Auctioneer Jamie Abbs, and buyer Jo Dragicevich of Western Meat Packers – everyone played their part in making this fundraiser a success.”
The collaboration between local agricultural businesses and RFDS supporters demonstrates the strong community ties that help sustain vital medical services in regional Western Australia.
The funds raised will contribute to maintaining the essential emergency medical services that the RFDS provides to remote and regional communities.
