Dunsborough student artists commended for work

Two local students have put their creative spirit on show as part of the Lions International Peace Poster competition.

The annual competition welcomes students aged 11-13 to create a design based on the year’s theme, which in 2024 was ‘Peace Without Limits’.

Lions Club of Dunsborough secretary Kaye McCormick said the club had this year sponsored students from Our Lady of the Cape Primary School to take part in the contest.

“School judging took place last week to ascertain which poster would progress to the next stage,” Kaye explained.

Judges were unable to separate two entries – one by Manoa Coltrinari and the other by Emme Gleeson – and decided that both would progress to the next stage of the competition.

“These posters then progress finally to Australia’s best, then onto America for the final stage,” Kaye said.

“The students spent a lot of hours perfecting their posters, and put a lot of thought into the meaning of the theme.”
