Dunsborough cafe blending coffee and charity

October 25, 2024 BY

Boxing Day this year will mark the first anniversary of the passing of Harry Stead, who was tragically killed whilst battling a fire on his family’s Esperance property.

Harry was a beloved Esperance community member, a volunteer firefighter and was well known for his passion for community service and was well known as a coffee aficionado.

In honour of Harry, a coffee blend has been expertly developed in conjunction with 5 Senses Coffee and coffee reviewers ‘Blokes and Their Long Macs’ that represented Harry’s personality.

‘Steady On’ celebrates everything Harry loved in a coffee and what he stood for.

Known for keeping people grounded, Harry put people at ease encouraging everyone to live in the moment and to live life to its fullest.

The Merchant and Maker team in Dunsborough have thrown their support behind the initiative, with funds raised going to Nulsen Disability Services.

The blend fittingly features notes of gingerbread, boozy pineapple and jasmine florals.

In support of this initiative, Merchant and Maker in Dunsborough will be selling the blend in store for people to enjoy in their own homes.

All profits from the sale of ‘Steady On’ will be donated by Merchant and Maker to Nulsen Disability Services, who look after people with complex disabilities, an organisation and community close to Harry’s heart.

Harry was actively involved in the organisation, forming meaningful relationships with many residents through his role as a volunteer Nulsen Youth Patron.

“When we heard about Harry and the coffee blend that was to commemorate his life, we wanted to be a part of that and help out the charity that he was so fond of,” Merchant and Maker head barista Charlotte Marks said.

“We’ve always considered the coffee community in Western Australia to be close, and this allows all of us to be involved and celebrate his life.”

The blend is on sale in store now.
