Wander Out Yonder – Children’s Workshops

January 9, 10, 11, 24 & 25, 10am

Fi Wilkie is a Margaret River artist who loves sharing, and developing creative thinking across communities both urban and rural.

She has been teaching workshops in painting and collage for nearly 10 years.

Her work is often used by primary school teachers as inspiration in art class.

In these workshops, young artists will create a ready to frame image which will be mounted and presented ready to fit easily into an off the shelf frame.

Additionally they will be looking at a range of birds and animals from our local environment.

Finally, they will also spend some time learning about making some of our own painted and printed papers to use in their designs.

Run-Time: 120 minutes. Suitable for ages 6-12.

Please arrive 15 minutes early.

For arty or non-arty kids alike in small group class (max of 10).

Ticket Prices: $65pp.

Paint Play Intergenerational Workshops

Wednesday, January 17, 10am & 1pm

‘The Paint Play Intergenerational Project’ is inspired by facilitator Annie Bourgault’s childhood in Quebec, Canada.

Her teacher always seemed busy getting the children more paper, more paint and more space. They never spoke about what to create or were asked questions about their creations. It was pure creative freedom.

“At the end of the day, most of the paintings ended up in the bin. The journey was the goal, not the result.

“It was not a means to an end. No one compared, critiqued, supervised or evaluated the children.

“We can all experience the freedom of painting for the pleasure of enjoying creativity, putting colours, shapes and textures on paper.”

To really enjoy the journey and not be constrained, all the materials will be provided.

“You don’t bring anything into the room and you don’t take anything out. What happens at the HEART stays at the HEART. However, your experience stays with you. Your expression of creativity will be archived.”

The workshop is recommended for anyone who can hold a paint brush and is suitable for children as young as three years old. Children up to six years old must be accompanied by an adult who will also take part in the creative process.

Run-Time: Approx 90mins

Ticket Prices: $25 adults, $20 members, $15 youth (Max 12 people per workshop).
